RAG DOLL AND SWEET HIPPO DOLL

I made some store models for the The Sewing Studio. They have such cute patterns. Anything you want in notions, fabrics, quilting supplies, doll supplies, beads, lycra etc, too much to name, they have it.

This is Emotional Anne lol. She is holding a bat by the name of Sebatian.
Here is a close up of her bat.

She is a sweet simple rag doll and a good beginner doll class. The fabric that was left over from her dress, I made a turtle pincushion out of it. It is on my other blog
here

Then I made Hilda, a cute Hippo doll. I'll post other models as I get them done. Summer is here and I like to do easy easy and cute, fun stuff..

The patterns are from Melly and Me and the Studio sells her patterns, she has quite a selection.

Wired Doll Chair

I am always looking for doll chairs and when I do find them, they are very, very expensive. I decided I would try to make some on my own, so I bought a booklet by EPB named, SitDown lol. (If you don't see what you want, just ask Beth, she is very nice and handles all of EPB's stuff.) Get her face painting kit and try it and her DVD is excellent!!

I started the wire frame with 14gauge wire. It seems a bit crooked but I still have some adjustments to make and things always look the worst at the beginning. Here you can see that I have already started to wrap it with batting. See? it's good to save scraps lol.
Here it is with extra wire around the legs to keep it steady. I ran two piece of wire up the chair back and two pieces in the seat. It is very sturdy and strong as it has a good foundation now.

I am now going to add some stuffing and fabric and beading, of course and see what becomes of it. the seat seems to be a bit larger on one side but I will adjust that with extra stuffing etc. or add an extension of wire.

The booklet also has several chairs, couches in it. The foot stool is a riot. Well, you know  EPB's  style, if you have made some of her dolls.

Fairy Pillow

I am still into dolling and beading. I am in love with beading right now. Not that I haven't done it before, it was just put on the back shelf for a year or so. I have a nice collection of beads and just bought more on ebay, that was fun.

I also put the silk ribbon on the back shelf for years now but now with the dolling etc, all this stuff comes out, including the books, so I can review as one does forget after a few years, but it all comes back quickly.

My dolling friend Linda, showed me a fairy pillow she made and I just had to have one for my fairy too. I had this tiny quilt top of four blocks, made with folded flowers or Oragami. It was too small for anything and too big for a pillow. I ripped it apart and used one block to make this pillow. I beaded it of course and hung little glass hearts where the points of the petal come down.

Woodland fairy

I have been having some fun creating faries. Here I used a printed butterfly quilter's cotton to make this fairy.

I beaded her all over, this is a close up of her arm and middle.

Here you can see her leg real good. I make the flower type ornament and wired the rest and then sewed it on.

Close-up of the arm and jewel on her face.

Her back. I used a lovely friend's scarf to create her clothing. I couched it down and sewed it right on her body, including some beads here and there. I wanted most of her body to show, so she is scantly dressed.

Her face is painted with DecoArtAmerican so soft paints and shimmering pearls and glitters, her hair is Emu feathers.

Witch of the season Hazel Quackenbush

This is an update to Hazel. I didn't make the cat that came with her. I decided she really needed a crow.

So off to the drawing board. Crows have a nice long body and long wings. I have finished the pattern and here he sits on Hazel's hat.
His wings and tail are quilted  and are seperate  pieces. the wings are attached with beads so they are movable. A small bead is sewed to the middle back of his tail.
Here is a front view. He has red Swarvoski bicone beads for his eyes. He holds some trinket that he just stole. You know how crows like shiny stuff. I made him out of black with silver, Quilters Cotten. I painted his beak white and when that dried I did the yellow with the shading and highlights.
I put him at front window and love him there. I will make another crow right now but a bit larger for the window...bigger red eyes and bigger loot hahahahah. I love him and I think he needs some yellow legs. Back to the drawing board and I will update the bigger crow and legs if it works out.

THE MAD HATTER AND HIS TIPSY TEACUP

Here is a neat little fellow. I didn't think I would like him in the beginning but he kinda grew on me.

He has tea in his teacup lol....a Cheshire cat button on his waistcoat and just too funny shoes with lots of dots. His hand are wired so he can be posed.

At the moment I loaned him a little baby rabbit from another rabbit mother but his teapot is in the works

Here is the teapot drying. I modeled it out of new air-dry clay that I found at Michaels, called Das.. Das comes from Germany. I dont' know beans about modeling but I try. When the pot is dry I will paint it in wild colors and post another pic.

Hazel Quackenbush

I have been working on this witch for a while now. Hazel Quackenbush by EPA. The pattern can be bought here

I made her as gaudy as I could. For some reason she just dictated to me what she wanted and boy she loves the glitz. She is made with quilter's cotton and wears a custom made chiffon coat by your truly lol. Her face is painted with DecoAmerican so soft fabric paints here also lots of their glitter line and Glamour Dust which I added to their Glittering Topcoat. I find that these paints are so easy to use and they blend so well, even a beginner can manage it.

Here is a side look at her gaudy earings.
She has a magic pocket for, eye of newt etc lol. I really beaded her extensivly, she just kept saying more, more.

Here is a good view of the toad, the jewel at her waist, ring and bracelet.

The jewel on her hat.
The little baby toads on her shoes.

Another view of her middle.

I made all her jewelry and she even suggested how to make it. I hope you enjoy looking at her as much as I do. She puts a smile on my face every time I look at her and she was worth all the time I spent on her
